Christmas in the Village - December 1st
The Wortley Village Business Association is Proud to Present: Christmas in the Village, December 1st, 9am to 6pm
We welcome you to join us for:
The Village Bus – this free Village Bus provides a tour of Wortley Village, its shops, and the day’s events. As you tour, you will be treated to a pleasant commentary on key buildings, and Village history. Special Village Bus stops are marked with large, red and white candy canes. Tickets will be issued at Breakfast with Santa to add to the excitement and charm – but are not required to get on the bus. 1pm to 4pm.
Breakfast with Santa – Drop in and join Santa for breakfast at the Landon Library, 167 Wortley Road, between 9:30am and 11:30am. Tickets are only $1 and will be available at the library from November 11th. Listen to acoustic music as you enjoy your continental style breakfast including items such as muffins, fruit, coffee, juice, and more!
Horse and Buggy Rides – Ride down Wortley Road in high style! Don’t miss this great experience! Horse and buggy rides will be offered on a first come, first served basis. Pick up and drop off will be in front of George’s Auto at the corner of Bruce and Wortley.
The Salvation Army Band – Returning by popular demand to Christmas in the Village, The Salvation Army Band will be playing all day at the corner of Bruce and Wortley. Enjoy carols and other favourites as you walk from shop to shop. …Please don’t forget to show your appreciation with a donation – help make a difference to someone in need.
Passport to Christmas – Visit a minimum of four shops in the Village between 10am and 4pm, collecting ‘stamps’ for your passport along the way. Once your passport is full, fill out a contact sticker and place on the back of your passport, before dropping it into the collection box at Tuckey Home Hardware, for a chance to win prize packages donated by WVBA members. Blank passports can be picked up at any participating retailer, all of which will be marked by a prominently displayed poster. Prizes will be on display in Tuckey’s shop window and the draw will be held at the Lighting of the Tree at 5pm.
Lighting of the Tree – A countdown to the lighting of the tree starts at 5pm, and is truly a celebration with singing by the students from Preschool of the Arts, hand crafted ornaments created by local community members, and the draw for Passport to Christmas prize package winners.
