I will be presenting a free lecture at the Landon Public Library, 167 Wortley Road, October 2nd from 7 - 8:30. Please register in person or by phone: (519) 438-6777
During this presentation I will introduce you to an understanding of how different parts of the personality system work to preserve the integrity of the system. Some of the “parts” you will be introduced to include your managers, firefighters and exiles. This work is based on the Internal Family Systems model.
You will learn how to pay attention to those parts that criticise you ("You’re too fat/thin...” , “You have to change...” , “You can’t relax and just be yourself...") and to help them take less extreme positions within the system.
If you have been a yo-yo dieter, carried shame about your body, felt embarrassed to be naked or in a swimsuit, ever had an eating disorder or had to adjust to changes in your body due to illness, accident or disease then this evening is for you.
